Alvin Campaña - Writer, Director, Editor, VFX
A graduate of Sheridan College's Media Arts program, Alvin Campaña is a Toronto-based writer, director, editor and visual effects artist. Since leaving Sheridan, he has gone on to direct three television specials abroad with acclaimed Filipino magician Erik Mana ('Stranger', 2004; ‘Mastermind’, 2005; ‘Believe’, 2011). In 2007, Alvin directed the short film ‘Premiere’, which was accepted into the prestigious Floating Film Festival, one of the most exclusive festivals in the world.
In 2009, Alvin won a Gemini Award for his editing on ‘Departures’, the acclaimed documentary-style travelogue, and has gone on to edit for a number of documentary travel series. Recently, Alvin has been nominated for a 2013 Canadian Screen Award, recognizing his editing work on another documentary series, ‘Descending’.
In his hometown of Mississauga, Alvin was awarded the 2003 Mississauga Arts Award for Best Emerging Media Artist. Ten years later, he received the Marty for Best Established Media Artist. His life is now divided between contract work and his passion projects, which are produced under Whose Army Studios.
Maylee Todd - Writer, Actress, Composer
Maylee Todd is a dynamic and multi-faceted artist, based in Toronto. Her creativity derives its inspiration from a wide range of artistic disciplines: songwriting, production, film, performance art, and design. Maylee’s music combines organic and electronic forms, including elements of boogie, bossa, space funk, psychedelia and soul. She is truly a free spirit who brings all of these seemingly disparate influences into honest, soulful, harmonious yet uncompromising vibrations.
In 2010, Maylee released her debut album Choose Your Own Adventure. The album received glowing reviews from the likes of NOW Magazine and The Globe and Mail. In 2012 single Hieroglyphics from new album Escapology (2013 Do Right Music) has already received worldwide airplay from BBC Radio 1 London, to KCRW in L.A. and J-Wave in Tokyo. Maylee has also composed original music for the film “Lullaby for Lucious & Sumat” which premieres at Cinequest Film Festival 2013 in San Jose.
Amongst sharing the stage with the likes of Janelle Monae, Lee Fields, Aloe Blacc, Little Dragon, and The Budos Band, Maylee has toured in the Europe,Transmusicales (Rennes, France), c/o pop (Cologne, Germany), Pop Montreal, Hillside Festival and in her home city of Toronto at Harbourfront Centre. When’s not busy touring, she performs with the monthly Motown-themed event The Big Sound alongside 30 other musicians and vocalists. She also collaborates and performs in the electronic dance outfit Ark Analog. Notably Maylee has recently developed a solo-electronic alter-ego persona called Maloo wherein she programs her own beats and rhythms primarily on a sequencer.
In concert, Maylee delivers a diverse repertoire of soulful tunes with an infectiously charismatic and joyful stage presence, full of warm humour and a performance art aesthetic. More than just a concert, Maylee Todd live is a creative experience that leaves an indelible impact.
Steven N. Bray - Producer
Steven N. Bray is an international film & TV producer who has won more than 40 major festival and show awards for his work, including the 2007 feature film ‘Amal’ (shot entirely in New Delhi, India) and the hit travel series ‘Departures’ (filmed in more than 30 countries worldwide).
2013 proves to be a prolific year for Steven, not only with the premiere of ‘Lullaby For Lucious And Sumat’, but also the debut of the action-packed adventure travel series ‘Boundless’ and the completion of the feature film ‘Siddharth’.
His knack for balancing the technical, business and creative demands of each individual project is his forte, with the goal of achieving excellence in every production he carries out.
P. Marco Veltri - Director of Photography
Pasquale Marco Veltri is a Canadian filmmaker and photographer whose unique vision crosses the boundaries of culture and language. He is a worldly soul and visual storyteller whose focus on character development is strongly represented in the intelligence and complexity of his works. Faced with the tasks of producing, directing, cinematography, and writing Veltri has developed an integrated and holistic approach to the art of cinema.
Veltri is an active member of the arts community and a promising contributor to the world of independent cinema. He has published a book, his work has been shown in several exhibitions throughout his career and he has been featured and interviewed in both local and Italian Canadian television.
Veltri’s films have screened nationally and internationally in Canada, Britain, France, Italy, and Egypt. His film Measuring Tape Girl has screened at the Cannes Film Festival and the Montreal World Film Festival.
Trevor Jablonowski - Associate Producer, Actor
Trevor is a graduate of the University of Toronto as a Drama Specialist. He has worked with Soulpepper as an Assistant Director for their production of Molnar’s Olympia, and as a Production Assitant for their production of The Long Valley. For the University
College Drama Program, he has stage managed Noam Lior’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, performed as both Iachimo and Caius Lucius in Kate Lynch’s production of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, performed the role of Jean in Jean Genet’s Splendids, made his directorial debut with a production of Brad Fraser’s Wolfboy, and was Assistant Director for visiting German director Katka Schroth with the production
of Michel Marc Bouchard’s The Orphan Muses, and Brecht: 50 Years Later, a unique revue that toured to Milan, Italy at the Teatro Piccolo di Milano. For theatreworks’ inaugural production, he performed the part of Francois Poulin de Francheville in Beau Dixon’s Once A Flame, and is currently work-shopping a new Canadian play titled Thirst by Blain Watters for a production scheduled for the fall of 2008.
